Burst out of your Bubble, Connect with your Community
RAISE AWARENESS, TALK TO EACH OTHER & CELEBRATE HUMAN RIGHTS DAY
The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in collaboration with Amnesty International and the Dignity Initiative, is organizing an event titled ‘Burst Out of Your Bubble, Connect with your Community,’ in celebration of International Human Rights Day.
In exchange for a small donation, members of the community will have the opportunity to sip some bubble tea, and write a pledge on a bubble-shaped card to describe how they will personally advance human rights in the coming year. Additionally, participants will be able to effectively “step out of their bubble” by engaging and interacting with other members of the community.
Given that there continue to exist areas in the world where human rights are not recognized or respected, it is important for us to continue to make an effort to draw attention to these circumstances, and push for everyone, everywhere to be able to realize their human rights.
This year, the Netherlands Embassy will be highlighting the importance of equal rights for both women and LGBTI persons, as these two communities still remain marginalized in many countries, and continue to face discrimination. In order to secure a safer, friendlier, and more equal world, it is important that we start at home, by encouraging people to come together, talk to each other, and recognize that our common humanity provides a clear starting point from which respect, freedom and liberty can be achieved.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to Amnesty International’s justice and equality programs.
