The Embassy and Consulates | Kingdom of the Netherlands, Canada

The Netherlands embassy will partake in the Winter Celebration this coming Saturday – January 28 - on the grounds of Rideau Hall from 12:30 – 16:00 pm. Come join Governor General David Johnston and Mrs. Sharon Johnston for an afternoon of winter delights at Rideau Hall such as skating on the outdoor rink, dog sledding and more.

The Netherlands invite you and your children to put together friendship mittens. Dutch pea soup and Dutch friendship cookies will be served.

Winter Celebration is made possible thanks to the generosity and participation of a number of embassies in town, to mention a few: the embassies of the Republic of Austria, the Kingdom of Denmark, the Republic of Finland, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of Slovenia, the Kingdom of Sweden and the Swiss Confederation, as well as the European Union Delegation to Canada, the National Capital Commission, the Canadian Armed Forces, the Governor General’s Foot Guards and other participating organizations.

All activities – such as dog sledding, biathlon, kick sledding, bandy (a form of field hockey on ice), horse-drawn wagon rides, residence tours and much more - are free of charge and will take place rain or shine at 1 Sussex Drive.

Post your photos of the day’s activities to social media by using the hashtag #RHPhoto.

Due to construction work being done on Rideau Hall’s front facade, visitors who wish to access the skating rink must enter the grounds through Princess Gate. All other activities can be accessed via the Mackay and Thomas gates.

Free parking will be available on the streets in the surrounding neighbourhood. Limited parking for mobility-impaired guests will be available on the Rideau Hall grounds via Princess Gate.
