Women of Note: Music by European Women Composers

Netherlands contribution to CONCERT WOMEN OF NOTE – MARCH 10, OTTAWA

In celebration of International Women’s Day, join us on March 10 at 6 pm for an evening with European Women Composers. Ottawa based Paulien van der Roest will be representing the Netherlands. Other participating countries are Poland, Austria, Romania, Ireland, Bulgaria, Portugal and Slovakia. Ms. Van der Roest started studying voice with renowned Opera singer Maria Knapik in 2007 as a soprano and began her vocal studies as a mezzo soprano since April 2013 with Carmela Altamura (ongoing) in New York. In 2013 and 2014 she was requested to perform the Dutch National Anthem for the Canadian Military at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa and has also sung several times at the Canadian Aviation Museum in Ottawa. Pauline also had the honour to sing the Dutch and Canadian Anthem in April 2015 with The Orchestra of the Royal Netherlands Air Force at the Aviation Museum which was a thrilling experience. During the school year Pauline teaches Dutch language courses and she has been providing music classes to the Grade 2 and 3 elementary classes at Manor Park Public School in Ottawa.
