133 Dutch Contingent Rolling in at Velo-City Vancouver

Vancouver, June 18, 2012 – It will not come as a surprise that the Netherlands, the world's number one bicycle country, is present with a large Dutch contingent of sixteen speakers at Velo-City Global: the world’s premier international cycling planning conference that starts on June 26th in Vancouver. The four day event offers delegates from around the world a chance to share practices for creating and sustaining cycling-friendly cities, where bicycles are valued as part of daily transport and recreation.

134 Successful seminar on Flood Management and Mitigation by the Netherlands and British Columbia

VANCOUVER - May 18 (2012) The Consulate General of the Netherlands in Vancouver and Emergency management BC organized a Dutch-Canadian seminar about flood management and mitigation. This seminar, organized at the UBC Boathouse along Richmond’s River Road was a great success with more than 90 participants. With partners DHV/Delcan and support of the city of Richmond this seminar focused on an exchange of expertise.


After a careful selection by the jury of the Ivincentincanada contest, a part of the Canada wide Vincent van Gogh goes to School project, initiated by the Netherlands Embassy, the jury announced the winner of the grand prize as well as the winners of 10 cool Dutch Vincent van Gogh art bicycles.


OTTAWA – May 18 (2012) Dutch Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal laid a wreath at the Books of Remembrance in the Memorial Chamber at Parliament Hill to pay homage to the brave Canadian men and women in uniform who gave their lives for our freedom at the end of the Second World War when liberating the Netherlands.
